The Narayangadh–Muglin section of the highway, which had been closed due to a massive landslide at Tuiun Khola in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-5, Chitwan, has now reopened to two-way traffic.

According to the Bharatpur Road Division Office, the road became operational again at 10:35 pm on Thursday following extensive clearance efforts. The vital route had been fully obstructed since approximately 4:30 pm on Tuesday, 23 September.

Although work to clear the debris began on Wednesday morning, it was not completed until late Thursday night. Crews continued operations under floodlights, using more than five bulldozers to remove the landslide, which had stretched across 160 metres of the road.

The prolonged closure caused significant disruption for travellers, with long queues of vehicles forming on both sides of the affected section. Authorities have cautioned that it may still take some time before traffic returns to a smooth flow.

As the highway is a key transport link to Kathmandu, its closure led to major difficulties for passengers, particularly during the Dashain festival period, when many people were journeying to their hometowns. Scores of travellers were left stranded on the road for several hours.

Officials stated that traffic movement should remain normal unless further landslides occur. The Tuiun Khola stretch has experienced repeated landslides in the past, frequently obstructing the highway.
