A devastating Kathmandu school bus crash occurred in Nepal’s Farping area, located 20 km south of the capital. The accident resulted in the deaths of a 35-year-old driver and an eight-year-old child, while 41 others suffered injuries.

According to police reports, the accident happened when the school bus, carrying 41 students aged 3 to 12 and a teacher, veered off a hill road and fell 150 meters down. The sudden crash caused panic, with children screaming for help as bystanders rushed to the scene.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, pulling out survivors and transporting them to hospitals in Kathmandu. Authorities confirmed that the bodies of the two deceased have been sent for post-mortem, and their families have been informed.

    Injured Students Receive Medical Treatment

Of the 41 injured, police stated that eight students with minor injuries were discharged after receiving first aid. The remaining 32 students and the teacher are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Kathmandu. Some students have suffered severe injuries, though their conditions remain under medical observation.

Cause of the Accident Under Investigation

Officials are still determining the exact cause of the Kathmandu school bus accident, but initial reports suggest the driver may have lost control due to poor road conditions or excessive speed. Investigators are examining whether mechanical failure or human error contributed to the crash.

Authorities are urging drivers, especially those transporting children, to exercise extreme caution on Nepal’s hilly roads to prevent future tragedies.
