The Nepali Congress has called an emergency meeting of its Central Working Committee this morning. The meeting will begin at 8:30 AM at the party’s central office in Sanepa. This session was initially planned for June 29 but has been moved forward due to urgent developments.

According to Krishna Prasad Paudel, the party’s Chief Secretary, the meeting will be attended by office bearers, central committee members, and other invited participants. All concerned members have been officially informed to be present at the Sanepa office at the scheduled time.

The sudden change in the meeting schedule follows the passing of former party lawmaker Dhundiraj Shastri. The party has organized the session to pass a condolence motion and discuss related matters, such as funeral arrangements and official tributes.

Shastri, a respected leader within the party, passed away on Monday. He was known for his long-standing commitment to public service and his role in national politics. His death has been deeply felt by party members and supporters across the country.

To honor Shastri, the Nepali Congress has also arranged for his mortal remains to be placed at the party’s central office for public tributes. This tribute period will take place from 9 AM to 11 AM on Thursday, just after the emergency meeting concludes.

After the tribute event, a funeral procession will begin from the same location. Party members, supporters, and members of the public are expected to join the procession to pay their final respects.

Party leaders are expected to share their thoughts and memories of Shastri during the emergency meeting. The session will serve both as a moment of reflection and an opportunity to recognize his contributions to the party and the country.

The Nepali Congress has long maintained a tradition of honoring its senior leaders through official motions and ceremonial events. Today’s emergency session highlights the importance of this practice in preserving the values and unity of the party.

According to sources within the party, the meeting may also briefly touch on upcoming organizational activities. However, the main focus remains on mourning the loss of a respected lawmaker and organizing a dignified farewell.

The party office has made all necessary arrangements to manage the morning events. Security has been tightened, and traffic near the Sanepa area may be redirected during the tribute and funeral procession to ensure smooth coordination.

Local authorities have also been informed about the day’s program. They are expected to assist in managing the flow of people and vehicles during the event.

The loss of Dhundiraj Shastri has created a somber mood within the party. Many senior leaders, including those from outside Kathmandu, are expected to join today’s session either in person or by sending messages of condolence.

The emergency meeting is one of the first such sessions this month and shows the party’s readiness to respond quickly to major events. It also reinforces the Nepali Congress’s commitment to maintaining internal discipline and honoring its senior figures.

The party has asked all members and supporters to attend the tribute program and participate in the funeral procession. This public display of unity is seen as a sign of respect and a way to uphold the democratic values that Shastri stood for.

As the day unfolds, party officials will release more details about the funeral route and expected schedule. Those wishing to pay their respects have been urged to arrive early at the central office in Sanepa.

The Nepali Congress meeting today is not only about politics but about honoring a life dedicated to public service. Through this emergency gathering, the party hopes to show solidarity and extend heartfelt respect to one of its own.
