Nepali Congress (NC) central committee member and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, has called on party members to stop making irresponsible public statements about the party. Speaking at a meeting organized by NC Ilam in Shree Antu, she said such remarks hurt the party’s image and unity.
Dr. Rana emphasized that recent trends of accusations and counter-accusations among NC leaders are harmful. “These comments may get media attention, but they bring long-term damage to our party,” she said.
Irresponsible Talk Causes Internal Frustration
According to Dr. Rana, party members at all levels—from the center to local branches—feel frustrated when they hear reckless statements from fellow members. She urged leaders to discuss disagreements internally rather than in public forums or the media.
“Talking openly about internal issues in public makes things worse. We must respect party discipline and find solutions through internal dialogue,” she added.
NC Aims to Run Without Alliance in Next Election
Dr. Rana praised Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba for leading NC to become the largest party in the last local and parliamentary elections. She revealed that the party is preparing to compete without any electoral alliances in the next election.
“To win public trust again, we need more unity and hard work,” she said. Dr. Rana encouraged cadres to stay focused on strengthening the party’s base in all districts.
Push for More Women in Leadership
The Foreign Minister also spoke about the need for greater participation of women in politics. She said that many women still find it hard to get space in major parties, including the NC.
“It is a challenge for women to enter politics and hold leadership positions. But this must change. Women should come forward and take active roles in shaping the country’s future,” she said.
She highlighted the importance of proportional representation and called for efforts to make political spaces more inclusive.
Development Support for Ilam
During the event, Dr. Rana also pledged her commitment to the development of Ilam District, which is known for its scenic beauty and tea gardens. She assured party members that the central government would support local projects and help boost the region’s economy.
“Ilam has great potential for tourism and agriculture. We will make sure the area gets proper attention and resources,” she said.
A Call for Unity and Responsibility
As internal rifts become more visible, Dr. Rana’s message is a call for unity, discipline, and responsibility within the Nepali Congress. She stressed that focusing on internal progress is more important than airing complaints in the public eye.
“This is not the time to blame each other. This is the time to work together and prove ourselves again in the next election,” she concluded.
