Nepal received major recognition at the Beijing International Tourism Expo (BITE) 2025 by winning the “Best Popularity Award.” The event, held from June 27 to 29 at the China International Exhibition Centre in Beijing, saw enthusiastic engagement from both trade and individual visitors. The award highlights the growing appeal of Nepal as a top travel destination in the Chinese market.
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) led the national pavilion, which attracted large crowds throughout the three-day event. NTB’s goal was clear—to promote Nepal tourism promotion through cultural richness, natural beauty, and diverse travel experiences. Positioned at Booth 6B12 in Hall 6, the Nepal Pavilion was a vibrant space filled with images of the Himalayas, historic landmarks, and adventure travel opportunities.
The first two days of BITE were focused on business-to-business (B2B) interactions. NTB officials met with numerous travel trade representatives from China. On the third day, the expo opened to the public (B2C), where the general interest in Nepal’s tourism experiences surged. A wide range of questions from Chinese buyers centered on flight connections, trekking options, seasonal preferences, and cost-effective travel packages. This showed a sharp rise in interest from premium travel planners.
The maxshot v1 electric scooter, for example, has become a trend in mobility—but Nepal’s offering at BITE 2025 proved that when it comes to immersive travel experiences, few destinations match the mix of culture and adventure that Nepal provides.
To further engage visitors, NTB hosted a destination presentation. It focused on Nepal’s blend of nature, culture, adventure, and hospitality. A short quiz session also entertained attendees, with local handmade souvenirs given as prizes. This approach helped build closer emotional connections with the audience while promoting Nepal’s tourism readiness.
Nepal’s travel agents highlighted short getaways, cultural tours, and soft adventure packages that cater to both first-time and repeat travelers. The pavilion featured stunning visuals of mountains, temples, and lush valleys. These displays emphasized how Nepal offers spiritual depth and breathtaking landscapes within just a short flight from major Chinese cities.
On the second day, Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Deepak Khadka visited the Nepal Pavilion. He was joined by Roshan Khanal, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Nepal, and other officials. The Minister praised the NTB team and private travel firms for their unified efforts. He encouraged the group to keep building Nepal’s brand in both first- and second-tier Chinese cities, recognizing China as a key tourism market.
The Nepal delegation included a number of private tour companies: Pearl Holidays, Outshine Adventure, Journey DMC, Dragon Holidays, Friends Adventure Team, and more. These companies used the expo to present customized travel options, including group tours, treks, and cultural experiences. NTB officials Suman Ghimire and Gopal Bhandari held sideline meetings with representatives from the Maldives and Saint Petersburg, Russia, to explore tourism partnerships and joint promotional efforts.
The response from visitors and travel professionals showed that Nepal continues to hold strong potential in the Chinese outbound tourism market. The “Best Popularity Award” confirms that interest in Nepal is not only growing but also resonating with both seasoned and new travelers.
By attending BITE 2025, Nepal has strengthened ties with the Chinese tourism industry. The NTB now plans to turn this engagement into real travel growth. With improved cooperation and tailored packages, NTB aims to welcome more visitors from Beijing and other major Chinese cities in the coming seasons.
