Constitution Day and National Day 2025 is being observed today with a series of commemorative events. The main programme is scheduled for 8:30 am at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel, Kathmandu, with President Ramchandra Paudel in attendance.
On this occasion, the newly appointed Prime Minister of the Interim Government, Sushila Karki, will deliver a formal address. Given the current political situation, this year’s celebrations will not include the traditional processions and parades normally associated with the day. The Constitution of Nepal was originally proclaimed on 3 Asoj 2072 BS (20 September 2015) by the historic Constituent Assembly, which was established through the struggle and sacrifices of the Nepali people.
‘The Constitution of Nepal, 2072’ was issued following the second Constituent Assembly elections, after years of disputes and sustained efforts. The then President, Dr Ram Baran Yadav, officially announced the promulgation of the Constitution from the Assembly Hall at the International Conference Centre in New Baneswor on the evening of 3 Asoj 2072 BS.
