Huawei Nepal has chosen five talented students to represent the country in the Seeds for the Future 2025 program. This global initiative aims to train future leaders in digital technology. The selected participants will travel to China in August for the regional round.

This year’s program drew more than 650 applications from university students across Nepal. After a tough selection process, 30 candidates were shortlisted. These students joined workshops, tech training sessions, and cultural activities designed to build their skills in information and communication technology (ICT).

As part of the training, students toured a modern data center in Kathmandu. This gave them firsthand experience with how large-scale digital systems work. They also attended a special session on cultural diversity and language hosted by UNESCO Nepal at the UN House. The event allowed students to discuss how technology can support inclusion and preserve culture.

In addition, participants visited the China Cultural Center to learn about Chinese history and the role of education and technology in global collaboration. These visits aimed to build cultural understanding and inspire innovation.

Throughout the program, students learned about advanced technologies like 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing, and Clean Energy. These sessions helped prepare them for a future in the fast-changing digital world.

On June 25, the final interviews took place. Each student was assessed based on their communication skills, technical knowledge, creative thinking, global perspective, and personal motivation. The judging panel included experts from Nepal’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, UNESCO, Nepal Telecom, and Huawei Nepal.

After reviewing the candidates, the panel selected five students to move on to the next stage. The winners are Adarsha Shrestha, Apala Timilsina, Dinanath Padhya, Manjila Pandey, and Stuti Dhungana. These students will now join peers from other Asia-Pacific countries in China for the regional round.

In the final stage, the students will meet tech experts from around the world. They will take part in business training, mentorship sessions, and innovation workshops. The program will also give them a chance to explore China’s digital sector. They will visit leading tech firms and work with other students to design tech solutions for global issues.

Seeds for the Future is Huawei’s leading global CSR initiative. It started in Thailand in 2008 and now reaches students in over 140 countries. The Nepal chapter began in 2019. Since then, the program has trained more than 45 Nepali students directly and reached over 150 indirectly.

In Nepal, the program includes college outreach, expert talks, and a bootcamp. These lead up to the final interview and student selection. Past winners have taken part in regional rounds held in Singapore and Thailand. This year, they head to China.

The goal of the Huawei Seeds Program is to inspire students to pursue careers in tech. By offering global exposure and real-world experience, the program helps bridge the digital skills gap and builds a stronger tech future for Nepal.
