Nepal won a thrilling last-ball match against Scotland in their Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series in Dundee, Scotland. The victory came with just one ball to spare after Scotland spinner Mark Watt bowled a leg-side wide on the final legal delivery. This chase of 297 runs is the highest successful run chase in Nepal’s One Day International (ODI) history and lifts them off the bottom of the League 2 table.
Scotland batted first and set a strong total of 296 runs in their 50 overs. Charlie Tear scored 80 runs, and Finlay McCreath added 55, helping the hosts gain control of the match early despite losing the toss.
Nepal started their chase steadily but faced difficulties when they were at 192 runs for seven wickets in the 39th over. Kushal Bhurtel contributed 55 runs, but the team was still behind as Scotland seemed close to winning.
Karan KC came to the crease as the No. 9 batsman and played an important role in Nepal’s fightback. He scored an unbeaten 65 runs from 41 balls, hitting four sixes. His strong batting revived Nepal’s chances as they needed seven runs in the final over.
During the last over, Nepal lost Sandeep Lamichhane early, leaving Karan KC to bat with the last man, Rijan Dhakal. Dhakal helped Karan get back on strike, and Karan scored two twos from the remaining balls, bringing Nepal close to the target.
The winning moment came when Mark Watt bowled a second wide ball in the final over, giving Nepal the single run they needed to win.
