Indian mobility startup Tummoc has officially entered the Nepalese market, marking its first international expansion. The Bengaluru-based company, known for its smart urban transport solutions, is introducing its platform in Nepal to support local public transport authorities with digital tools for better service delivery. This step reflects Tummoc’s ambition to grow globally in the fast-evolving Mobility-as-a-Service industry.

Founded in 2019, Tummoc offers digital tools that help users plan and manage intra-city travel. Its app brings together real-time information from public transportation services, including metro and bus networks, to simplify commuting. With the new launch in Nepal, Tummoc is introducing an automated fare collection system for buses, allowing passengers to pay digitally and reducing the need for cash. Alongside this, a taxi aggregation service is being launched to connect riders with local taxis, available for both business and private use.

The goal of these services is to make travel more convenient and efficient while offering valuable data to local authorities. These tools can help cities in route planning, scheduling, and improving services based on commuter demand. Tummoc believes its model will reduce waiting times and bring transparency to fare systems, which are often outdated or manually operated in many regions.

In India, Tummoc currently operates in 22 cities and is aiming to reach 32 to 35 cities by the end of 2025. The longer-term goal is to be active in 50 Indian cities by 2026. The company has built a strong network by collaborating with public transport bodies as well as private mobility providers. This includes partnerships with ride-sharing platforms that help passengers reach the first and last points of their journey, such as getting from their home to a bus stop or from a train station to their final destination.

The Tummoc app simplifies this process by combining all forms of travel into one platform. Commuters can check routes, compare prices, and track timings all in one place. This helps them plan their journey in advance and avoid long wait times or confusing transit options. It also encourages the use of public transport by making it more user-friendly.

While Nepal is the first international market to be publicly announced, Tummoc has also started operations in another country, though details remain under a non-disclosure agreement. The company had planned to expand into Bangladesh as well, but political challenges in the region have caused delays. Still, Tummoc continues to look for other entry points into Asia and beyond.

The startup is also in talks with potential partners in North America, South America, and Europe. These discussions are part of its larger strategy to bring its technology to urban areas that are looking for better transport systems. However, Southeast Asia remains the primary focus for now due to the region’s growing need for smarter public transit.

Tummoc claims it can launch in a new country within a few weeks. This rapid deployment model gives it an edge in entering markets quickly and adapting to local needs. By using scalable technology and flexible integration systems, the company can work with different kinds of transport networks and regulations. This flexibility allows it to serve both advanced urban systems and developing regions with limited infrastructure.

The need for modern mobility solutions is increasing worldwide. Many cities are facing problems like traffic congestion, air pollution, and poorly managed public transit. Tummoc’s approach combines data, digital payment systems, and route optimization to tackle these issues effectively. By helping commuters and authorities alike, the platform serves as a bridge between old systems and modern expectations.

As the global population shifts toward urban centers, the demand for integrated, digital-first transport options is set to grow. Tummoc’s expansion into Nepal shows that there is room for Indian startups in the global mobility market. With its fast setup times and adaptable platform, the company is well-positioned to support cities looking to upgrade their public transit networks.

Tummoc plans to invest in more advanced features in the future. These include tools powered by artificial intelligence for smarter route planning, electric vehicle support, and even links to international travel services. These developments will help the app stay competitive and meet the changing needs of users across different markets.

With its recent move into Nepal and ongoing international talks, Tummoc is on track to become a significant player in the mobility-as-a-service industry. Its ability to provide quick, reliable, and digital transit solutions makes it a promising partner for cities around the world seeking to improve how people move.
