Jeremy Clarkson, the well-known TV presenter, has said he hopes Top Gear will return to TV soon. Clarkson hosted the BBC show for many years, along with Richard Hammond and James May. Together, they also made The Grand Tour for Amazon Prime Video. Their time on both shows lasted over 20 years and made them global stars.

The final episode of The Grand Tour aired in 2023. Since then, Clarkson has been busy with his farm, called Diddly Squat, located in Oxfordshire, England. He now stars in Clarkson’s Farm, a popular documentary-style series on Amazon Prime.

BBC Put Top Gear on Hold After Crash

After Clarkson, Hammond, and May left Top Gear, the BBC hired new hosts. These included former England cricketer Freddie Flintoff, comedian Paddy McGuinness, and motoring expert Chris Harris. The trio brought a fresh style to the show, attracting a new generation of fans.

However, in December 2022, a serious accident happened during filming. Freddie Flintoff crashed during a high-speed stunt on a closed track. He suffered facial injuries and several broken ribs. The crash shocked fans and the TV industry.

Following the accident, the BBC decided to stop filming Top Gear “for the foreseeable future.” The broadcaster said it was not the right time to continue the show. Later, it was revealed that Flintoff received £9 million in compensation for his injuries and trauma.

Clarkson Says It Would Be “Sad” If Top Gear Never Returned

In a recent interview with The Times, Jeremy Clarkson shared his thoughts on Top Gear’s future. “It would be sad if it never came back, that would be very sad,” said the 65-year-old presenter.

He added that there is still a place for a car show on TV today. “There’s room for a car programme at the moment because cars are changing so fast,” he explained. “Electric cars are coming along and nobody really understands what’s a good one and what isn’t.”

Clarkson Rules Out Hosting Top Gear Again

Even though Clarkson hopes Top Gear will return, he made it clear that he will not be the one to bring it back. When asked if he would host the show again, he said no.

“I just don’t understand or like electric cars, so I wouldn’t be interested in doing it,” he said.

This statement may disappoint fans who hoped for a reunion. However, Clarkson’s honesty reflects his personal view on how cars have changed in recent years.

    What’s Next for Clarkson?

Jeremy Clarkson is currently focused on Clarkson’s Farm, which has been a major hit. The show follows his real-life challenges running a farm in the English countryside. It has received praise for its humor, honesty, and educational value.

The third season of Clarkson’s Farm is expected to release in 2025. In it, viewers will see more about farming life, weather problems, and Clarkson’s struggle to make the farm profitable.

Besides the show, Clarkson also writes columns for newspapers and shares opinions on many topics, including politics, the environment, and travel. He remains one of Britain’s most recognizable media figures.

    Top Gear’s Uncertain Future

It is unclear if or when the BBC will bring Top Gear back. The show was once one of the most-watched TV programmes in the world. At its peak, it reached over 350 million viewers in more than 200 countries.

While the format changed after Clarkson, Hammond, and May left, the show still had a strong following. Many fans now wonder if the BBC will reboot it with new hosts or end it for good.

Electric Cars: A New Era for Motoring Shows?

Clarkson’s comments about electric vehicles (EVs) highlight a bigger issue. Many car fans are still unsure about EVs. They find it hard to know which models are good, how long batteries last, and how to charge them easily.

This creates an opportunity for future car shows to focus on electric cars and new technology. A modern Top Gear could help explain EVs to the public in a fun and easy way.

But it may need a new kind of host—someone who enjoys electric driving and understands the new car world.
