Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said the government is working to achieve economic progress by maintaining political stability. He shared this during the inauguration of a new health post building in Bhalayakharka, located in Rainas Municipality-2, Lamjung, on Sunday.
Speaking at the event, Minister Gurung, who also serves as the spokesperson for the Government of Nepal, stressed that the current administration is moving forward by putting the interests of the people and the nation at the center of its efforts.
Development Delays Due to Past Instability
Minister Gurung noted that the country’s development works had been delayed in the past because of frequent changes in government. He said important procedural and structural reforms could not take place due to the lack of timely laws and continuous political instability.
“The government is correcting mistakes made in the past and moving ahead with the aim to meet the people’s aspirations for change and growth,” he stated.
Gurung also emphasized that the current government has made a firm commitment to resolve existing problems and irregularities. He said the government would continue to work for development and reforms despite challenges.
Focus on Practical and Technical Education
On a different subject, Minister Gurung highlighted the need to improve the country’s education system. He remarked that the current system is impractical and outdated and stressed the importance of focusing on practical and technical education to meet the needs of modern times.
“Our education system should prepare young people with skills that can help in real life and employment,” he added.
This echoes similar calls by education experts and policymakers in Nepal who have long demanded reforms in the education sector, including better integration of vocational training and job-oriented courses.
Alliance Formed to Address Economic Crisis
Minister Gurung also addressed the formation of the present government alliance. He explained that the current coalition was built to pull the country out of an economic crisis and to speed up development works which had slowed to a crawl.
“Our economy was in a sensitive condition, and development projects were stuck. This government was formed to address these problems,” Gurung said.
He made it clear that the current political alliance will remain in place until the next general elections. The minister added that the government has given special attention to ensuring that people across the country have easy access to health services.
Health Infrastructure Gets a Boost
The event marked the inauguration of a new health post building in Bhalayakharka. The health post is expected to improve health services in the region, providing local residents with better access to medical care.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, such infrastructure development is part of the government’s ongoing plan to expand healthcare facilities in rural areas. Over the past year, similar health projects have been launched in different districts.
An official from Rainas Municipality shared that the new health post would play a vital role in addressing the local population’s healthcare needs. “This is a long-awaited facility for our community, and we believe it will help improve public health services,” the official said.
Government’s Commitment to Reforms
In his concluding remarks, Minister Gurung reiterated the government’s dedication to reforms in every sector, including governance, education, health, and economy.
He called for unity and cooperation among citizens, government agencies, and local bodies to accelerate national progress.
“The government is working with a clear focus, and we are determined to meet the expectations of the Nepali people,” he said.
