Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has announced that the government is actively working to boost development and good governance in Nepal. Speaking at a public awareness gathering in Damak, Jhapa, PM Oli stated that the coalition of major political parties is moving forward with a focus on stability and the rule of law.
The event, organized by the CPN-UML, saw Oli, who also serves as the party’s chairman, highlight the government’s commitment to progress. “Politics is not a stunt,” he said, calling for discipline and integrity in political activities.
Rejecting Unruly Politics and Monarchy Talks
PM Oli directly addressed recent controversies linked to businessman Durga Prasai, who has faced accusations of banking fraud and financial irregularities. Without naming Prasai, the Prime Minister criticized public support for individuals involved in such cases. “It’s not right to be swayed by those involved in financial misconduct,” Oli remarked, referencing the March 28 incident at Tinkune, Kathmandu, where protests turned chaotic.
He made it clear that Nepal’s monarchy, abolished by a popular movement, would not return. “There’s no possibility of restoring a system that the Nepali people have already rejected,” Oli said, reinforcing Nepal’s status as a federal democratic republic.
Government Focused on Political Stability and Development
Reflecting on past challenges within his party, PM Oli acknowledged internal disputes that once threatened party unity. “There were difficult times when some within the party worked against the UML,” he said. Despite this, he emphasized that the government remains dedicated to ensuring political stability, accelerating development projects, and strengthening national governance.
According to the Prime Minister, major infrastructure projects and development initiatives will move ahead more quickly in the coming months. “We will soon introduce new policies and programs aimed at modernizing agriculture and promoting entrepreneurship,” he announced.
New Laws and Private Sector Support
The government, Oli mentioned, has already introduced five key laws through ordinance, with another focusing on land management expected soon. These legal reforms aim to improve governance, streamline land use, and support economic growth. “The positive feedback from the private sector is encouraging,” PM Oli said, noting the importance of collaboration between the government and business community.
Experts believe that these ordinances, if implemented effectively, could attract more investment and improve Nepal’s business environment. According to a recent report from the Nepal Economic Forum, streamlining regulations is vital to boost local industries and job opportunities.
UML’s Vision: ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’
Reaffirming his party’s long-term vision, PM Oli said the CPN-UML is fully committed to achieving the national goal of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’. He stressed the role of the party in shaping the country’s political and economic landscape. “Nepal without UML cannot be imagined,” he declared.
This slogan has been a key part of the UML’s development strategy, focusing on poverty reduction, better infrastructure, and social inclusion. As Nepal prepares for new policy launches, observers are watching how these promises will translate into action on the ground.
Mobilizing Youth for National Campaigns
On a separate note, PM Oli called for greater youth involvement in civic campaigns. He urged young people to actively participate in the upcoming Youth Festival on Loktantra Day, set to take place in Kathmandu on Baisakh 11. The event aims to promote democratic values and social awareness among the country’s youth.
“The party needs to reach every household with awareness campaigns,” Oli told his supporters, emphasizing grassroots activism as a priority for the CPN-UML in the coming months.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s remarks in Damak underline the government’s priority on stability, rule of law, and development. While dismissing talks of restoring the monarchy and criticizing unethical political practices, Oli laid out a clear plan for economic reforms, infrastructure projects, and youth engagement.
As Nepal moves forward, the coming months will show how effectively the government can turn these commitments into reality, while maintaining political unity and fostering national progress.
