Kathmandu, Feb 10: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) marks its 34th year today. The event, held at the CIAA headquarters in Tangal, highlights efforts to stop corruption and promote honesty.

CIAA Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyaya said that President Ramchandra Paudel will be the chief guest. The CIAA is a government body that investigates corruption and enforces laws against public misconduct.

    Fighting Corruption in Nepal

The CIAA was created under Nepal’s Constitution. Article 239 gives it the power to investigate and take legal action. The agency looks into bribery, misuse of funds, and other wrongdoing. It can take cases to court if a public official breaks the law.

    More Complaints Every Year

The latest report shows that the CIAA and its offices received 36,186 complaints in the fiscal year 2080/81 BS. This includes 26,918 new cases and 9,268 older cases. The agency resolved 27,714 cases. This shows its effort to maintain justice and accountability.

The CIAA also works to prevent corruption. It raises awareness, strengthens government systems, and suggests policy changes. The goal is to stop corruption before it starts.

    Keeping Nepal Honest

Corruption is a big problem in Nepal. The CIAA plays a key role in stopping it. The agency aims to make sure public officials follow the rules. It also helps build trust in the government.

The CIAA will keep working to stop corruption. People are encouraged to report any suspicious activity. A clean government benefits everyone.
