Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak stated that the government is taking active steps to modernize Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal.

Speaking at an event today, Minister Lekhak emphasized the government’s commitment to improving these security agencies by maximizing available resources. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance their competitiveness.

    Legislative Reforms Underway

The Ministry of Home Affairs has introduced a bill to amend laws governing Nepal Police and APF Nepal. This amendment aims to modernize both agencies in a timely manner.

Minister Lekhak also discussed other legislative initiatives. A bill related to citizenship certificates has been registered in parliament, while the government has moved forward with an election-related bill.

Additionally, preparations are underway to present an amendment to immigration laws. Meanwhile, changes to land acquisition laws are in progress.

Focus on Service and Retirement Policies

The Minister noted that three laws related to organizations are currently under parliamentary review. He assured that all pending bills would be submitted during the ongoing session.

Regarding the Nepal Police Act, he stated that the bill addresses concerns about service entry and retirement. However, he welcomed feedback from police personnel, encouraging constructive debate on any necessary amendments.

Minister Lekhak reaffirmed the government’s openness to refining the bill to address key concerns.
