During the press briefing held today at the office of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Narulal Chaudhary has announced new development plan to improve the livability of the city. The extensive programme, which is expected to be started next month, covers the widening of some roads, upgrading of the supply of water system, as well as construction of new public infrastructures.
The mayor emphasized the importance of modernizing Ghorahi’s infrastructure to keep pace with the city’s rapid growth. “Our city is experiencing unprecedented development, and it is crucial that our infrastructure evolves to meet the changing needs of our community,” Mayor Chaudhary stated. The plan allocates a significant portion of the city’s budget to these improvements, reflecting the administration’s commitment to long-term urban development.
The construction and improvement of such large arterials are the key parts of the project plan in Ghorahi. This plan seeks to help reduce traffic jams prevalent in the city as well as draw out the overall flow of traffic within the city. As part of the plan, several arteries identified as major thorough fares are due to be expanded, and a new traffic control system will be introduced aimed at regulating the flow of traffic in the most congested times of the day.

The mayor also revealed that newest constructions will follow the patterns of green spaces and that they will try to integrate as much as they could eco technologies. This project meets international developments of the sustainable urbanisation process, as Ghorahi aimed at environmental protection.
Small enterprises have said they believe that the infrastructural enhancements will bring positive economic returns. The Chamber of Commerce representative, Ramesh Sharma, stated, “These developments will not only enhance the daily lives of our residents but also make Ghorahi more attractive for investment and tourism.”
It has also received different responses from the public on the announcement made. As much as the residents are happy with the changes, some residents are discouraged by the inconveniences that come with the construction of the facilities. To these concerns, the mayor responded by promising to reduce the irritation that would be caused by these changes and to make people understand that they have long-term gains.
Other industry categories, such as education and health facilities, are also expected to benefit from the infrastructure plan averted. The city has provided money for the remodeling of several schools and the growth of hospital facilities in the city. These human improvements are designed to help improve the standards of education and the health care services in Ghorahi for its people.

With a focus on building infrastructure it is anticipated that many job vacancies will be available mostly in the construction and its following industries. This aspect of the project has been well received by local labor unions as likely to promote employment in that area. Speaking during the launching of the projects, the mayor was keen to note that his administration would ensure that the projects are implemented in a manner that favors local people and firms.
During the preparation of this particular phase of development in Ghorahi, people of this area feel a kind of positive vibes are present. If this development strategy proves successful, it will be possible to discuss shifting from the traditional growth model to a new type of urbanization in Ghorahi and the surrounding area of Nepal.
